How we use AI

Effective October 10, 2026. This page exists because Strut is built with AI and being vague about that would be the wrong way to start.

1. On this website, today: none

No AI touches anything you submit here. Your waitlist signup and your contact message are written to our database and read by a human. They are not sent to any model, by us or by anyone else.

2. How the site was built

An AI coding assistant helped write the code, the copy and the tests for this site, working from our direction and reviewed by us before anything shipped. We mention it because it is true and because you can reasonably want to know. Responsibility for what is published here is ours, not a model's.

3. What AI will do in the app, when it launches

This is planned, not live. Nothing below is running yet.

  • Checking the shirt is actually being worn. During a walk the app will occasionally ask for a quick photo. A vision model will look at that photo and answer a small set of questions: is a shirt visible, is a person wearing it, is this outdoors, is the badge present, how many people are in shirts. It returns those answers and a confidence score. That is the whole job.
  • What it will never do: identify who you are, match your face against anything, guess your age, gender, race or mood, or read anything in the background of the photo. It is not a surveillance tool and we are not going to let it become one.
  • A model never decides your money on its own. Verification combines the photo check with walking-pace and device checks. If something is rejected and you think that is wrong, a human reviews it. An appeal goes to a person, not back to the model that said no.

4. What we will never give a model

  • Your name, email address or phone number.
  • Your location history. The photo check gets the photo, not your route.
  • Your payment or tax details.

5. Nothing you give us trains anybody's model

We will not sell, donate or license your photos, messages or any other data as training material, and we will use providers under terms that forbid training on what we send them. If that ever has to change, it changes with notice and a choice, not quietly.

6. Advertiser shirt designs

Advertisers may use AI to make their artwork. That is their business. Every design is still reviewed by a human here before it is printed, against the rules in our Terms.

7. Questions

If you want to know whether a specific thing involves a model, ask us and we will answer plainly. If this page ever stops matching what the product does, that is a bug and we want to hear about it.
